5good flavor and texture, very high protein with little elseJan 03, 2007
By Music Fan Jeff
This and MetRX's protein powders are my favorites, though when Amazon has this brand in stock it's less expensive per serving than MetRX. The MetRX foams up a bit more and seems a little thicker (not negatives, in my opinion); the TwinLab comes out very smooth when made in a blender. Both brands taste very good, at least when made with fat free or 1% milk (or at the very least half milk and half water).

I won't detail the nutritional info because it's available in the product description here, but like MetRX I like that this protein powder gets almost all of its calories from protein. Some protein powders have a fair amount of fat and some have A LOT of carbohydrates. Those formulas may be good for competition level bodybuilders who need to have an extremely high caloric intake because they are working out so hard, but I don't really want a protein shake that gives me a meal's worth of carbs and fat in addition to the protein. I'd rather get my carbs and fat from real food.

5GREAT PRODUCT & SELLER!Feb 25, 2009
By M. A. Spencer
I'm just a normal person. Not a jock or body builder. Not even extremely active because of physical disabilities. However I swear by this product. I drink it for breakfast and mid-afternoon snack just about every day. The taste is wonderful with skim milk or water - your choice. I even take it with me when I travel overseas to minister. It's a great meal replacement filled with good protein; great-tasting; quick to fix; and keeps me feeling satisfied. And at this price it cannot be beat. My son went through a lifestyle change about 7 months ago. Changed his eating habits and exercise schedule. Has dropped 95 lbs. Part of his success was this protein powder. He drinks it twice a day and eats sensible small portion meals. The weight loss did great things for his health and self-image. He feels so good about himself - he can conquer the world! We are repeat customers and will continue to purchase this particular item from this seller as long as it's available.

1Ridiculous InflationFeb 26, 2012
By Tom Somerville
Only 8 months ago this exact product was $27 shipped, and the price has since slowly but steadily risen. Just a month or two ago it was around $30. Now it's $45 for the cheapest. That is a 60% increase. Are the ingredients becoming more expensive? The other brand's prices have remained consistent. Now it is not the cheapest whey (for the protein/cost) so it really has no advantage anymore, because it does not taste as good as the other brands. Chocolate surge tastes bad in water. It all tastes adequate or worse.

4Great tasting protein power with one issue.Oct 27, 2008
By N. Spears
This is a great tasting protein, and believe me I have tasted so many brands it not funny. The only issue I noticed with this protein as compare to a tub of Optimum Nutrition is that the serving size is HUGE! The Optimum nutrition scoop is half the size of the Twin Lab scoop. I compared the nutrient facts and Twin lab has 3 more grams of carb and an extra gram of fat. Nevertheless, the scoope is twice the size. Optimum Nutrition is definitely higher quality, but Twin Lab tastes better.

5Twinlab Vs ON Gold StandardDec 17, 2011
By Suburban P
My review will compare Optimum Nutrition's Chocolate Whey Protein and Twinlab's Chocolate Whey Protein. I will only compare these two since they are the only two proteins I've ever tried. After paying $45 per 5lb tub of ON I decided to look for a more inexpensive equivalent/alternative. I stumbled upon Twinlab (TL)protein through amazon and decided to give it a try. I did some research and noticed that TL uses Whey protein concentrate vs ON which uses Whey protein isolates. Whats the difference? Well Isolate protein is derived from concentrate. Whey isolates require further processing. Concentrate contains more fat and lactose. If you have issues with bloating or are lactose intolerant, you should stick to WPI. If not WPC is a cheaper yet equivalent option. One protein is not better than the other in terms of muscle building.

Price: Can't be beat considering the bang for your buck. For 10 pounds of ON you can get 15 pounds of TL protein

Taste: I know taste can be torture to some people. It does taste like chocolate milk to me and I actually look forward to drinking Twinlab protein. The taste difference is so minute I can't tell. If you were to take a blind taste test with skim milk I doubt you could tell them apart. Overall it tastes good.

Mixibility: Compared to ON, TL protein mixes about the same. I mix with skim milk with a fork. TL might take a bit more mixing but I'm sure its nothing you can't handle.

Serving Size: The serving size is 35 grams vs ON's 30 grams. With TL having only 64 servings per container, it will last me a little less than two months since I only take one scoop per day and get all the rest of my protein from whole foods. Although there are less servings per container, its not enough to deduct a star.
