 threads on one dumbbell bar is defectiveJun 07, 2011

One dumbbell bar appears to be defective. None of the collars will screw onto that bar despite working on the other dumbbell bar and straight bar.
Amazon can't/won't do a single part replacement, so I'll have to ship the whole 100 lbs back to them.
I will update when the second set arrives.
Update:
It was too much trouble to figure out how to repack all the weights since Amazon offered a partial refund of 20%. I'll just use that refund to purchase another dumbbell bar or two.
The bars themselves feel solid. The straight bar comes as two pieces with a central collar that you screw both pieces onto. About two inches of threading per piece go into that collar. I'm assuming it can handle the 85 pounds of weight that comes with the set. The straight bar + central collar + 2 collars on each side is 13.5 pounds.
The weights are a plastic covering over something that I can only describe as feeling crunchy. I suppose I should avoid dropping them on the floor. Oh well, ## pounds is ## pounds. I didn't have to spend even a hundred dollars on this set so it's worth it to have some weights at home for days where I miss out on the gym.

I bought these mainly for the dumbbells as they were the cheapest I could find on Amazon. They were shipped fine; looked alright other than the weights being much larger than I thought.
I then went to put the weights on the dumbbells and the caps won't thread on! Out of the 4 threads (2 on each dumbbell), only 1 worked as it was intended; 2 were extremely difficult to thread on and 1 thread was impossible to get on (I tried all 6 caps and all would stop past at the beginning of the thread). The threads on the longer bar are fine but I have no use for the longer bar.
As much of a pain as this will be to return and as much as I would love to keep it, the dumbbells just don't work. How do you mess up simple threads? I'm now extremely hesitant to purchase cheap weights and dumbbells from Amazon.

This is a decent set of weights for the price and I would recommend it for beginner to intermediate level weight-lifting. If you care about price and don't want to spend $300 on a set of adjustable dumbbells, this is a good value. It's exactly as it was described in the description.

I order this one without reading review... some one had same experience ... parts are missing...very poor quality...some of the weight set were already scratched in shipment...(made up of low quality plastic)... finally i return.. still waiting for refund... please do not buy this one instead spent $20-$40 bucks more ... you will definitely get high quality dumbbells
