Disappointing QualityMar 30, 2009

I purchased this to be a desk for my wife. Because I ordered it online I cannot return it (due to high return shipping costs) or I would have.
I was expecting this to roughly compare in quality with other particle board/photo laminate furniture.
This desk is several grades lower in quality of materials and fasteners. Much of this desk is assembled with plastic dowels and cam fasteners with plastic bases. The main vertical support boards are about 1/3 the thickness of other furniture I have purchased and assembled. The entire desk is covered with a less-than-paper-thin photo laminate--including the writing area! It scratches off incredibly easily revealing ugly particle board underneath.
Other desk furniture I have purchased in this price range (such as Bush) has formica or other thick laminate on the writing surfice and ruberized bumper edges that would tend to get bumps and scrapes. This desk has none of that and I do not expect this to last very long with the poor materials and quality of the photo laminate.
I have purchased and assembled a significant amount of furniture, and am competant in furtiture assembly. This product's instructions are very poor with diagrams that show pieces that are different in size by several feet is being approximately the same size. They leave out important details such as which side the finished edges should should face, and other necessary information making construction unnecessarily time consuming it trying to determine these things.
This is certainly not a product I would have purchased if I had had the opportunity to examine it in person at a show room, and regret purchasing it.
