Worst Waste of Time and MoneyJun 20, 2010
By J. Nettles

This purchase was a complete waste of time and money - unless you're using it just as a conversation piece and don't plan on putting anything in the drawers at all. All of the runners for the drawers are made of plastic and the drawer bottoms are nothing more than cardboard - so don't expect it to hold anything without warping and coming out. I could have duct taped moving boxes together and had a more sturdy and useful piece of furniture. We purchased ours through another store - but I hope anyone looking at this item here thinks again and purchases something else. If this piece is representative of South Shore furniture (this is the first piece - and the last we've bought from this company) - I can assure you we won't be making that mistake again.

Falls apartApr 14, 2010
By R. Brandon Tipton This dresser was the worst 100 plus dollar purchase I have made in a very long time and has completely crippled my opinion of Southshore furniture. The drawers constantly fall out and fall off track. Ive had to take all the drawers out and drill holes to help keep them together. The entire unit is flimsy and wobbly. You'd be better off going to IKEA and getting something worth a damn.

Good valueOct 04, 2009
By Midwest birdwatcher This is a copy of my review on the double dresser. I would have preferred more expensive bedroom furniture, but the staircase in this 125 year old house is too narrow and has too many corners to bring anything much larger than a coffee table upstairs. So... assemble-it-yourself has been the only way to go. I purchased the media stand from this collection first, and was pleased with the sturdy construction, the attractive finish and hardware, and ease of assembly. This dresser was no different, and I'm pleased with it for the price. The drawers glide easily (plastic runners) and have stops to prevent pulling them out too far, they're plenty roomy. The ebony color is very dark chocolate and black with a soft satin gloss. It's quite neutral and blends well with antique Persian carpets and Tiffany style lamps, though it would work with modern decor, too. Most of the pieces come with a touch-up marker to fix nicks or scratches. I've also purchased the tall chest, nightstand, and mirror. They're all good, basic pieces to decorate around, and reasonably priced for what you get.

Only Cardboard Could Be WorseFeb 08, 2011
By mook105 When I bought this item on Amazon, I thought I was paying less because Amazon is the place to get great deals on just about everything.
While I understand that you get what you pay for, and that a dresser priced so low is not going to become a family airloom, please, be serious with this thing. Assembly was a pain, though not much worse than putting together an IKEA dresser. That's not my complaint. I just couldn't get over how much this company skimped on the quality of the parts. The "wood" if not handled with extreme, and I mean extreme care, would scratch and break off in my hands. The bottoms of the drawers are literally made of cardboard, as is the back of the unit. When I finished assembly, I found the piece to be so flimsy, I had to be extra careful placing the dresser in the bedroom for fear that it would just fall apart.
Do not buy this item.

Nice looking dresser but cheapMar 28, 2010

I am in the same boat as the other poster. I have a very narrow stairway. I have to carry each piece up alone. The particle board they used to make it is not that great. It is cheap will not last very long either and not a item I want to move to often, because it is going to fall apart or at least I think there is a possiblity of it happening. Don't buy this for many reasons to put in a childs room. The draws work really well, but they are not deep so don't count on a lot of room storage of clothes. Lots of parts to seperate but once you get it all counted and seperated into groups the job is fairly easy to assemble. However it does look great once completed and I will post some pictures so people can see it.
