Best thing I could ever buy for myselfMay 10, 2010
By C. Ferris I have issues with my hip and lower back, rolling them out hasn't solved the problem yet, but it definitely makes my day a lot less painful. It feels almost like you are giving yourself a deep tissue massage. The 36-inch is definitely the way to go also, the smaller ones don't help me as much at least. I use it up to 2 times a day, 15 minutes at the most. I am definitely happy with this purchase and highly recommend for anyone with a tight lowerback and hips!

Stress relief tool... for the price of (or part of) one massageJul 13, 2010
By Christopher deHoll I encountered Foam Rollers while in rehabilitation for a knee issue, they work like a charm. Essentially you become capable of giving yourself deep tissue massage. That being said... the only down side of the Foam Roller is that (just like Real deep tissue) there is a fair amount of pain before the stress relief. All in all, this is an excellent way to manage stress if you get it in localized areas (for me my Thigh, IT band, etc.) and is pretty much fool proof. There is an ever-expanding knowledge base for different exercises to isolate certain areas of the body. Great tool for the price :) Holding up well over the months I've had it so far. Highly recommend!

doesn't hold upJul 31, 2010
By Boot-obsessed After just ONE use, this foam roller was dented and misshapen (and I'm no gorilla--I'm only 125 lbs!) I ended up having to go out and buy another one--I got it from a physical therapy place and it's holding up perfectly. Don't waste your money.

Relief of stress AND neck painAug 22, 2010
By Perry With my all-summer-long physical therapy for my neck, I was happy to do anything my PT suggested. The foam roll was all new to me. I didn't even know they existed. My main "exercise" with it is to lie on it, spine-to-foam roll, and squeeze the roll with my shoulder blades. I found, though (after my PT told me to try this), that just lying on the roll for 10-15 minutes and doing nothing but allowing my pecs to stretch out and "uncurl" is incredibly helpful for a neck/upper back problem that is ALL about stress.
The roll does tend to flatten out and doesn't stay round very long, but it's still fine to use for my purposes. Two months ago I'd never even heard of one of these, and now I'll pretty sure I'll use it for the rest of my life. I'll never be a jock, but at least I'll be a nerd with a more pain-free neck. :)

ok for the priceJul 26, 2010
By Private This is a good starter foam roller, specially if you are a light person. In my case (I am 6', weight around 185), with heavy use (3 times a day) is is no longer a perfect cylinder (big dip in the middle). But I have used it A LOT and it has helped me much more than the price I paid for it. So 4 stars is good. Recommended (note: I also bought the blank one, really firm)
