4Seriously?Feb 08, 2010
By Nicole Hartmann "boardin_blondie37"
I was just looking to buy a marcel curling iron (a different style) when I came across my CURRENT curling iron (this one).

I was shocked to see the other two buyers gave it bad reviews! I curl my hair most days, in different styles. I have coarse hair (but im caucasian). I have 4 other irons...Conair, Hot Tools, really expensive ones. I LOVE this one. It makes my hair super soft! I curl it just to put it in a ponytail because it makes it sooo much better to touch! :D

The off button is a little weird, but I don't have to hold it in some awkward way like the other person said. If you're doing it in the mirror, you can see if it turns off because of the flashing light. Also, it pulls out hair when you get too close to the handle. It's happened maybe 4 times in the 2 years I've had it.

Other details: It has a little dial for heat that I always leave at the highest. I would recommend using hairspray or gel because it leaves your hair SOFTER which means the curls fall out a little faster.

If you have any questions, feel free to comment and I'll get a notice. I LOVE THIS CURLING IRON.

1Nothing good to say about this curling ironJun 09, 2009
By C. McWilliams "Piper"
I've had many curling irons over the years and this one is by far the worst. The design is bad. I have to wonder if the designer ever tried to use the thing. It's far too easy to accidentally turn it off when you're using it. I have to hold it at an awkward angle and hope I don't push the off button. It randomly pulls hairs out of my head when I use it. I have thick, fly-away hair which is what this was supposedly made for. You'd think it would be better at dealing with random hair strands than other curling irons but it's much, much worse. The kicker is that it didn't even last one month. Now, I can't get it to heat up. The light goes on and even starts blinking but it's stone cold. Too bad for me that I don't have the receipt. I can't even remember where I bought it. So here I am leaving a review to hopefully prevent others from buying this piece of crap. I will never stray from Conair again.

2No defined curlsJan 08, 2009

I bought this to replace a 1" Vidal Sasson curling iron I had been using since college. Even though this says for "coarse" hair, it doesn't seem to make as strong and as defined of curls as my old curling iron. The curls from this are more similar to waves that my 1" flat iron with a rounded edge makes. I have medium to thick hair so I'm not sure why it doesn't make strong curls. I'm going to exchange it for something else.

I love this curling iron. defenetely the best I've had.I use the higher heat setting but it takes way less time to curl my hair than it ever did before.

4Great for thicker hair!Mar 30, 2010

Curling iron heats up very well and curls thicker hair with ease.

Only complaint I have is that your hair will snag on the screw mechanism underneath, if you put your hair too close to the base at the joint where the curling iron lifts up.
