I researched this flat iron carefully before I bought it. I had been using a $25 Vidal Sassoon straightener for years and when it finally bit the dust and I couldn't find the same model, I decided to go for something new. My hair is insanely thick, curly and coarse, and the affordable price on this straightener made me skeptical, as cheap straighteners had failed me miserably in the past. The only reason I ended up purchasing this straightener was because of the good reviews I'd seen on other websites. I'm so glad I went for it! This straightener heats up nice and fast, and gets hot enough to straighten my stubborn hair. The plates are wide, which makes things go a lot quicker. It also makes my hair soft and shiny. The only negative thing I could say about this flat iron is that there is a piece below the plates that sticks out, and it catches my hair if I am not careful. I would buy this flat iron again in a heartbeat.

...but really, this is the WORST flat iron I've ever owned. Let me list my gripes about it:
1. It says it has a rounded edge to create bounce at the bottom. Fine, but the narrow edge creates a crimp.
2. The iron doesn't clamp tight enough around the hair, so you have to go over the same section like 10-12 times to get it dry. And even then, it's not getting as straight as it ought to.
3. This is a cheap thing that could have been done, so it really irritates me - the cord gets tangled. They should have put a swivel on the end of the cord. It would have cost them like 30 cents more, and they could have charged one dollar more.
4. The handle is SO not ergonomically correct. My hand was cramping up.
5. There's no cool spot for your other hand to hold on to.
I'm sure there are other things, but I need to go.
