 Great Plug-in, Mediocre FilterAug 25, 2010

These replacement filters are the all-purpose ones designed to go into the Febreze True Air plug-in. There are three unscented carbon filters to a package, along with three of the timer bubble packs. These filters will do a reasonable job for about six weeks of continuous use. If you want to get the most performance out of the Febreze True Air, go for the Hamilton Beach filters labeled for smokers or pet owners, those work much more effectively and last longer.

when you purchase these very overpriced replacement filters at what you think is a bargain price from the "Buy-it now-store," what you're getting is a very poorly constructed knock off that doesn't fit well in the fan unit. They cause be more effort and inconvenience when trying to use them. First, they should not advertise these as the OEM branded item and second it they're going to knock them off, they should at least make sure that they're a reasonable duplicate of the original.

It helps out a little in the kitchen to get ride of the odors, but still a window opened up is needed. Never tried an air purifier, so can't compare.
For the price it does an okay job.

I bought 2 of these devices, one for use by the garbage cans containing our baby's dirty diapers and one to try out in the bathroom. Previously, I had been noticing that our house smelled like dirty diapers. I put one of the devices within 6 feet from the garbage cans, and we don't smell the diapers anymore (granted they are newborn diapers that aren't as nasty as toddler diapers). I also put one in the bathroom. It works much better than the bathroom fan to remove odors. We leave the kitchen device on all of the time (going on 4 weeks now), and the filter is only half used up (there's an indicator to show you how much longer the filter will last). The package says that if you leave it on all of the time, the filter will last only about a month. However, I think ours will last longer. The only negative I see to this is that the device is larger than I thought. It blocks both plugs in the outlets I have them.
